Dear parents and guardians,

The month of November has been a very eventful one for our secondary students. Many of our extracurricular activities are already in full swing and we are happy to say that a wide range of our secondary students are participating!

One activity of note in the annual Model United Nations conference organized by The Sultan School. The Model United Nations, commonly referred to as MUN, is an educational activity in which students simulate the diplomatic conversations and debates that are common within official United Nations proceedings among their international delegates. At the MUN, each of our students represent such entities as nations and special committees.

Weeks before the MUN conference, our students engaged in a series of rigorous preparatory sessions initiated by their teachers and supported by their senior peers. This year, we had a characteristically strong showing at the MUN. One of our Grade 11 Bilingual Programme candidates, Jood Al Abri, was awarded Best Delegate in the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues Committee.

The MUN provides a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their self-management skills as well as their capacities to think creatively, critically and spontaneously, while honing their speaking and listening capabilities. We look forward to continuing this tradition and eventually participating in conferences outside of Oman.

Congratulations to all of our delegates for their excellent work. Finally, a big “Thank you!” goes to our our teachers (Mr. David, Mr. Maina & Mr. Robert) for their commitment to the process of preparing our students for this significant event.

Best regards,

Mr. Ibrahim Abd Rahman
