Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope that you have had a good week.
This week we held a special assembly at which our Grade 12 students helped launch Ellesmere Muscat’s campaign to support The 2024 Oman Cancer Association (OCA) Walkathon. These students are busily liaising with OCA representatives, selling walkathon shirts, organizing our forthcoming OCA bake-sale, and bringing positive attention to a worthy cause through assemblies, posters and social media posts!
For Ellesmere Muscat, the OCA Walkathon provides a unique opportunity for students and staff alike to reflect on the importance of community service while acknowledging the simple blessings that come with the ability to give back.
As our students have gradually become the focal point of the event organization, they have been able to exercise many of the key skills that are promoted across our school, both explicitly and implicitly, such as effective communication, collaboration, and self-management. They have also acted as positive role models for their younger Primary (PYP) peers by demonstrating a willingness to contribute in a positive way to the development of their own community. The benefits of such initiatives is immeasurable.
Please be on the lookout for forthcoming information about this and other community development initiatives at Ellesmere Muscat! If you are new to our school community and would like to know more about the OCA Walkathon, please use this link.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
