A Week of Learning Beyond the Classroom

This past week was filled with enriching experiences that extended learning beyond traditional classroom walls. From our very first Movie Night, where secondary students showcased their films; to an engaging STEM Day for our secondary pupils which including making their own hydroponic systems, painting our rock number line for the KG and primary students, introducing our ducklings to Ellesmere Muscat, plant management to name a few: a Grade 6 Mini Exhibition on ancient civilizations; a Grade 3 interactive session where parents became students learning about the properties of rocks; enriching our playground for our younger learners with a bus, a caterpillar and a 1-30 stepping stone pathway; our school was alive with curiosity, creativity, inquiry and ACTION.

As an IB school, we are committed to a holistic approach to education, where students develop not just knowledge but also the skills and dispositions that prepare them for life beyond school. These experiences exemplify concept-based inquiry, encouraging students to make connections, ask meaningful questions, and construct their own understanding.

Through these activities, students also developed their Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—whether it was research and communication skills during the Grade 6 Mini Exhibition, critical thinking and problem-solving in STEM activities, or social and self-management skills while presenting films and engaging with parents.

It is moments like these that truly reflect the IB philosophy—where learning is not confined to textbooks but is lived, experienced, and shared within a vibrant learning community. Thank you to all of the parents who made this week such and engaging and fun one!
