Dear parents and guardians,
On Monday November 18, we celebrated Oman’s 54th National Day as a school community. Teachers, students and their family members gathered in our primary gymnasium parents to enjoy an array of singing, dancing and dramatic performances. Every moment was captured by our professional photographers. Drones buzzed overhead to ensure that not a single angle was missed. Our students represented their school community and nation with a great degree of professionalism and dignity.
From there, community members converged on a selection of spaces across the campus dedicated to an array of activities such as flag coloring, Omani historical trivia and horseback riding. Special guests demonstrated the processes of making traditional Omani pottery, halwa and bread. A number of snacks and drinks were also on offer by several of our Secondary students. It was a day filled with cultural activities and a variety of hands-on experiences. Children were provided with a fair-like experience and were welcome to wear traditional Omani attire or the colors of the Omani flag to show their pride and respect for Oman!
It is important to acknowledge the importance that our school community places on helping our students to develop their personal and interpersonal skills. This year, as is the tradition, our secondary students, particularly those involved in IBDP CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), played an essential role in organizing and facilitating our National Day event. Their involvement in planning, coordinating, and leading the different activities offered them an invaluable opportunity to give back to their school community while developing their own skills in leadership, teamwork, and project management.
Our secondary students not only managed many of the logistics of this year’s National Day event, but also demonstrated our school’s commitment to engendering service as action, and ultimately enhancing the school community’s overall National Day experience. We place a high priority on preparing our secondary students to serve as role models for their junior peers. Their active participation in the planning of this year’s National Day festivities serves as yet another milestone on their personal journeys.
Thank you to all of those who supported this year’s National Day celebration!
Best regards,
Mr. Ibrahim,
Secondary Team Leader
