Book Week at Ellesmere Muscat was a vibrant celebration of stories, sustainability, and school spirit. Students across all grades immersed themselves in literature through a variety of fun and meaningful activities that truly brought the magic of reading to life.
A standout event was the Waste to Art community project, where students used recycled materials to create animal book characters β a beautiful fusion of creativity and environmental awareness. We also embraced spontaneous reading through Drop Everything and Read sessions, and buddy reading between classes helped build student connections and boost reading confidence.
One of the most exciting moments came during the final assembly with the Dress Up as Your Favourite Book Character parade. Students proudly took to the stage in colourful, imaginative costumes representing characters from timeless classics and modern favourites β a joyful celebration of storytelling in true Ellesmere style!
Other highlights of the week included:
π Balloon Pop Reading Challenge β students tackled surprise reading tasks with enthusiasm.
πΈ Reading in Unusual Places Photo Challenge β capturing students reading in the most unexpected and creative corners of our school.
π Reading Passport Challenge β encouraging exploration of diverse genres and cultures.
π¨ Art Competition β where students visually expressed their favourite book scenes with creativity and flair.
π Read-Aloud Visits β with staff and parents visiting classrooms to share beloved stories.
π Grade 3 Puppet Theater β students designed and created their own story puppets and brought them to life through delightful puppet shows, showcasing imagination, teamwork, and performance skills.
