Ellesmere Muscat, an esteemed International Baccalaureate (IB) World School located in the heart of Oman, is actively seeking a dedicated and dynamic Male Sports Coach for a part-time position, focusing on fencing, Olympic shooting, and female volleyball. This role is a unique opportunity for an individual who already possesses a valid work visa for Oman, to lead and further develop our After-School Activities (ASA) programmes and Sports Academies, embodying the IB philosophy of holistic education.
Essential Responsibilities
Development of Training Programmes: Innovatively design and implement comprehensive training sessions for fencing, Olympic shooting, and female volleyball, aligning with IB educational principles and meeting the diverse needs of our student athletes.
Athlete Development: Scout for and cultivate student talent, providing personalised coaching to enhance their skills, competitive edge, and passion for sports.
Enhancement of ASA and Sports Academies: Play a pivotal role in the expansion and enrichment of our ASA programmes and Sports Academies, ensuring a wide range of high-quality sporting opportunities for our students.
Organisation and Leadership of Sports Events: Lead the planning and execution of sports events, competitions, and inter-school matches, promoting teamwork, school spirit, and the values of sportsmanship and fair play.
Safety and Compliance: Vigilantly uphold all health and safety protocols within sports activities, ensuring a secure environment for student athletes to train and compete.
Collaborative Teamwork: Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Physical Education department and the broader school community to integrate sports programmes effectively within the school’s holistic educational offerings.
Qualifications and Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable expertise in coaching fencing, Olympic shooting, and/or female volleyball, supported by relevant qualifications and a strong track record.
- Exceptional ability to motivate, inspire, and communicate with young athletes, fostering their physical and personal development.
- Solid organisational and leadership skills, capable of creating and sustaining high-calibre sports programmes in line with the IB ethos.
- A steadfast commitment to promoting health, teamwork, and ethical behaviour in sports.
- Must possess a current work visa for Oman or demonstrate eligibility to secure one promptly. This requirement is non-negotiable due to legal employment regulations in Oman.
