Introduction
Ellesmere Muscat International School scholarships are annual merit-based awards. They are provided to students who excel academically, to support them as they complete grade 11 and 12 following the IB Diploma program at Ellesmere Muscat International School.
The scholarship covers 100% of all tuition and examination fees for the two years of the IB Diploma program, but does not include items such as uniform, meals, transport, trips or extra-curricular activities. Each year up to two scholarships are awarded.
Eligibility
Scholarships are available to any student who lives within daily travelling distance of Ellesmere Muscat. Eligible students must be:
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Provide report cards that demonstrate they have maintained a consistently high academic average over the past 18 months.
- Have the ability to think critically and apply their learning to novel situati
- Be confident to engage with the awards panel verbally and in their presentati
- Be able to share their interests and passions beyond the classroom.
Application Process
Students indicate their interest in the program by applying online through the school website, the link shared on social media or directly to below button.
The deadline for applications is 9:00pm on Thursday 07th May 2026.
All applications will be reviewed by an awards committee comprising of the Head of Ellesmere Muscat, the Vice Principal and the Secondary Principal. This committee will create a shortlist of candidates based on academic performance over the previous 18 months, involvement in activities beyond the classroom and the accompanying letter of interest.
Timeline
All applicants will be contacted by the 10th May at the latest. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Ellesmere Muscat on Friday 22nd May 2026 at 8:00am for the final round process. This will involve three written 30-minute assessments (English comprehension, mathematical reasoning, logic and problem solving). More details will be shared with the short-listed students but there is no specific preparation for these assessments.
In addition, all short-listed students will complete two verbal tasks. 1) Give a three-minute presentation on a topic shared 48 hours in advance. This will be followed by a five-minute period when the awards panel will ask questions based on the presentation 2) Engage in a 15-minute interview with the panel about their strengths, interests and aspirations.
Recommendations will be shared with the Executive Committee of the School Board for ratification prior to results being shared with all candidates by Sunday 24th May 2026. Successful candidates and their parents will then be invited to Ellesmere Muscat to receive written confirmation of their successful application. This will be shared on social media.
Conditions
The decision of the selection committee is final.
Scholarships are merit based; all recipients must maintain high levels of academic performance throughout the two years of the program. It is also expected that they will be active participants in the wider life of the school with exemplary behavior and attendance records.
