This role is pivotal in shaping the educational journey of our youngest learners, guiding them through the foundational years of their education with a blend of traditional Omani values and the progressive principles of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Implement the IB PYP framework to deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that stimulate curiosity and foster a love for learning. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs and interests of students.
Student Development: Monitor and support the holistic development of students, encompassing academic, social, emotional, and physical growth. Use a variety of assessment tools and strategies to evaluate student progress and provide feedback that promotes self-improvement.
Classroom Environment: Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages risk-taking, critical thinking, and collaborative learning. Utilize classroom management strategies that are consistent with the school’s ethos and the IB Learner Profile.
Professional Collaboration: Work closely with fellow teachers, specialists, and the PYP Coordinator to plan and coordinate cross-curricular activities that enrich the learning experience. Participate in regular staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, informing them of their child’s progress, upcoming school activities, and ways they can support learning at home.
Cultural Sensitivity: Embrace and promote Oman’s rich cultural heritage within the classroom, integrating local context into the curriculum where appropriate and fostering a deep respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Certified teaching qualification for lower primary education.
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably within the IB PYP framework.
- Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage young learners.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective teaching practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural team environment.
