Ellesmere Muscat Clothing Policy
At Ellesmere Muscat, we place a strong emphasis on modesty and appropriateness in our dress code, reflecting the cultural and social context of our community. Our clothing policy ensures that all students present themselves in a manner that promotes respect, unity, and a focused educational environment.
General Guidelines
- Modesty and Appropriateness: Students are required to dress modestly and appropriately at all times, adhering to cultural and social expectations.
- Coverage: Students must ensure that their clothing covers from the shoulders to over the knees.
- School Clothing: All students are required to wear official school clothing on the top half of their bodies, available for purchase exclusively through the school shop.
- Discontinuation of AIS Clothing: AIS clothing is no longer accepted for the 2024/25 school year. Students must not come to school in AIS clothing.
Uniform Specifications
Upper Body
- Official School Clothing: Must be purchased from the school shop. The selection and choice will expand over time.
- Head wear: No headwear (caps, hats etc.) other than items purchased at the school shop may be worn. Girls may wear the hijab and boys may wear traditional Omani headgear if wearing the distasha.
Lower Body
- Trousers:
- Type: Long trousers that are not jeans.
- Design: Trousers should be plain, with no patterns, designs, or holes.
- Color: Only beige or black trousers are permitted.
- Fit: Trousers should not be tight fitting.
- Skirts for Girls:
- Design: Skirts must be plain, with no patterns, designs, or holes.
- Color: Only beige or black skirts are permitted.
- Length and Fit: Skirts must not be tight fitting and must meet our modesty expectations.
- Footwear: Appropriate to school use. No high heels.
Omani Traditional Clothing
- Dishdasha: Only boys studying in the Ellesmere University Preparatory College (Grade 10 – 12) may wear the dishdasha on a regular basis if they choose to do so.
Sports & Formal Clothing
- Availability: Sports & formal clothing can be purchased from the school shop.
- Requirement:
- Students are required to wear the appropriate school sports clothing for sport related activities both in school and outside of school.
- There may be specific clothing requirements for students attending events or activities outside of the school. This will be specified in advance to both students and parents.
Ordering Process
- Online Orders: All school clothing, including sports attire, must be ordered online via the school app or website.
- Collection: Orders are to be collected from the school shop upon receiving a confirmation email.
Additional Regulations
- Exclusive Purchase: Parents are not permitted to create copies of the school uniform. All uniforms must be purchased directly from the school shop to ensure consistency and quality.
- Administrative Decisions: The school administration reserves the right to determine what constitutes acceptable clothing. These decisions are final and non-negotiable.
Compliance
Students are expected to adhere to these guidelines at all times during school hours and at school-related events. Failure to comply with the clothing policy may result in disciplinary actions as outlined in the student handbook.
